Saadani National Park is where bush meets beach - the only Tanzanian park situated by the sea. Here you may see elephant, lion and giraffe on land and green turtles and dolphins in the Indian Ocean on the same day. Even humpback whales are seen on occasion. The freshwater in the park is supplied by Wami River and a boatride along its mangroves come with a high probability of seeing hippo, crocodile and an array of marine and riverine birds.

The climate is typically hot and humid. The landscape ranges from sandy beaches with palm trees swaying in the salty breeze to acacia  woodlands, coastal rain forests and tangled mangroves.

Saadani is located between Bagamoyo and Tanga and only 40km from to the Zanzibar Islands. An excursion to the historical town of Bagamoyo with its sensational ruins and slave trade history, can be highly recommended.
